The White Pass Railroad took
gold prospectors from Skagway, Alaska, and brought them up to the
Yukon to look for gold. Life was treacherous and mischievous in the
wild wild west back then. The gold rush was based on corruption. But,
without gold in Alaska, there would never
have been a Seattle. Seattle
became a booming city only after prospectors needed a place to buy
materials before the long trek north to Alaska. One thing about the
Railroad ... it's rather scenic. Wildlife, gorges, waterfalls, rivers,
and colorful plants all make up the landscape.
