Definition: Pogroms (scroll down for answer)         Definition: Pogroms Under Czar Alexander III, there was a hope to unify all Russian culture. This meant persecution of the many Jews who lived in the country. Pogroms were violence that targeted Jews. Jews were removed to an area of Russia known as the pale of settlement.
