Definition: Tea Act and Tea Party 1773

The Tea Act actually LOWERED the price of tea, but it said that the colonists had to purchase it from Britain. This upset the local merchants who were also trying to sell tea. Sooooo ... led by the Sons of Liberty, colonists dressed like Native Americans dumped 342 cases of the British tea into Boston Harbor.
