Definition for: Seneca Falls Convention

A major women's convention in 1848 that took place in upstate New York. Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott were key leaders. They adopted a Declaration of Sentiments, and concluded that "All men and women were created equal."

They challenged the "cult of domesticity," believing that women should leave their sphere of the home.
