Definition: Nationalism

Nationalism is a belief that one's loyalty rests with the people of a nation-state because of a common culture or interest. Typically, nationalism is accompanied by strong pride towards one's nation-state/country.

In the bloody year of 1848, revolutions broke out all over Europe, as nationalism and dissatisfaction in government ran wild. France and modern-day Germanyband Italy were greatly affected. People wanted more democracy, individual liberties, and improvements in working conditions.
