Question: Why did Europeans want to explore the New World? (scroll down for answer)       Answer: GGG Gold - A promise of wealth. Specifically, explorers like Christopher Columbus were looking for a quicker route to Asia. Such a route would prevent travelling through the Muslim controlled lands of the Middle East. God - The Europeans wanted to spread Christianity. Glory - Explorers wanted their own personal fame and fortune. The Age of Exploration was when European countries travelled and conquered the Empires of the New World (Native America). The Age of Exploration was from roughly 1492-1700.
