Question:
What is the
importance of the Nile River?
(scroll down for
answer)
The Nile is the
longest river in the world (though some consider the Amazon in South
America to be longer). Every year the Nile floods and leaves behind
fertile soil. This natural event led to the rise of civilization on
the land known as the Nile Delta.
Irrigation,
or the transportation and application of water to places far from
the source, was accomplished to bring water away from the
Nile.
