Answer: Very. The various climates create:

1. Desert – The Sahara is the largest desert in the world and experiences hot temperatures and dry soil.  It has been expanding southward to a region called the Sahel. When grassy regions dry up, it’s called desertification.

2. Savannah - These are the tall grassy plains that support agriculture.

3. Rain Forest - The middle of the continent has a wet climate with an abundance of trees. People do not typically populate these jungles.

4. Steppe - Extreme temperatures and little rainfall.

5. Mediterranean - High temperatures with wet winters and autumns.
