In 1836, Mexico's leader, Santa Ana, was poised to put down any resistance in Texas. When Texans and Tejanos refused to abandon the Alamo (located in San Antonio), it was stormed by the Mexican army. This helped spark the Texas Revolution which ended with Santa Ana's capture in San Jacinto weeks  later. Click here to read more about the Alamo.
